Spring
Training...
This is an aerial view of
Phoenix Municipal Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona
which is the spring
training home of the Oakland A's...
Practices usually begin around
9:30-10:00 am and last until lunch time.
From there the players will eat
and get ready for the game that usually
starts at 1:05 unless it's a
rare night game which begins at 7:05.
Usually
when you visit a baseball practice you often
find yourself walking from one field to the next, over and over, so that
you don't miss anything. Because the A's were only on one field, it made
it easy just to kick back and soak it up peacefully...
The rock formation in the
background is called the Papago Mountains
and they are some of the coolest things you'll ever see...
When I got there the coach was being interviewed.
Considering my only
question was "Where do they sell the beer",
I decided to keep quiet...
The press boxes have the windows, but during games
they are often open. Each year I would walk up the stairs during games and say
hello to Bill King who was always very welcoming and friendly. He will be missed...

Man I wish Ricky Henderson was still on the team...
Alright I've thought of a second question,
"Where's the Hooters"?!
I love baseball. Living here in Phoenix,
Arizona I get spoiled with how close I can get
to these great
players. Considering the practices are free and open to the public,
I
will go to practice which usually starts around 10am, then grab a
quick lunch and pay
around $6 to get into a stadium that’s much
smaller than regular stadiums so it’s
quite intimate.
In the morning when I wake up I grab my
baseball tickets, put on my baseball cap,
baseball glove, find my beckett baseball & baseball cards for
the guys to autograph,
walk through my home and pass my baseball
display cases with each ball in it’s own
baseball holder (let’s
just say I’m a sucker for a custom baseball) which is right next
to my baseball bat holders in my baseball bat case. As you can see
I’m a bit baseball
crazy! Let’s not even talk about my baseball
card collection…
The problem I have is which of my vintage
baseball caps each with a different
baseball logo to wear for that
day.
If you choose to give me
your first name and email address above I will let you know
when I
have more baseball photos and cool articles to share…Enjoy the
photos!
